The music festival is a local celebration of surf rock. This genre originated in Southern California in the late 1950s or early 1960s and evokes the laid-back surfing culture popular at the time. They want to spread good vibes and happy memories, hence the festival.
I was tasked to create a poster, a flyer, and a billboard to promote the event to the public. On top of this, I also made the event tickets and a concept for the festival t-shirt.
To start this task, I chose a color scheme that was all about sunny beach days and good vibes. Doing some more research on the genre, I noticed albums would choose an aqua blue, red-orange, or yellow for their covers, and it made perfect sense to use them. For the pieces, I wanted each to be an individual scene of a surf day, from being on the beach to actually catching a wave. That way, they each had a distinct look to them while staying cohesive. The result was a series of deliverables that capture what surf rock represents.
